Dr. Deborah A. Downes is a board certified ophthalmologist with 25 years of experience in all aspects of General Ophthalmology. She entered private practice in 1986 and founded Surgical and Medical Ophthalmology, LLC in 2000. The practice outgrew the previous location at 230 North Main Street and moved into a new state of the art facility in August 2011.
Deborah A. Downes, M.D. graduated with academic distinction from Cornell University, College of Arts & Sciences. She received her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, where she was designated as the Marie and John Zimmermann Scholar. She went on to complete her ophthalmic residency at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. A native of Hartford, Dr. Downes is on staff at ECHN, Manchester Memorial Hospital, Rockville General Hospital and Laser and Vision Surgery Center in Manchester.
Dr. Downes is the founder, medical director and chief surgeon of Surgical and Medical Ophthalmology, LLC in Manchester, Connecticut. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of medical and surgical eye diseases. Dr. Downes performs complete eye examinations for adults and children as well as in office minor eye and eyelid surgery. She is available for consultations, second opinions and specializes in small incision, no needle, no stitch cataract and lifestyle lens implant surgery.
